Ofqual Announcement: 11th November 2021

Ofqual have today published guidance for schools, colleges and other exam centres on contingency arrangements for students entering GCSEs, AS and A levels, the Advanced Extension Award and Project qualifications in summer 2022. This follows on from Ofqual’s consultation exercise, which closed on 13th October 2021.

Jo Saxton, Ofqual’s new Chief Regulator, has also written an open letter to all Private Candidates re-affirming their intention to hold examinations this summer and what measures will be in place to ensure Private Candidates are treated fairly. She also goes onto explain what contingency arrangements will be put in place for Private Candidates in the event examinations are cancelled again.

Here at Tutors & Exams, we are carefully digesting and considering the implications of these announcements and will respond in due course. Rest assured though, we will once again be at the forefront of providing assessment and grading opportunities for any candidate that chooses to sit exams with us, whether exams proceed or not. We will, as in the previous two years, enter dialogue with DfE, Ofqual, Awarding Organisations and all other stakeholders to ensure our candidates, and others outside of mainstream education, are represented when decisions regarding grading for Private Candidates are being formulated.
